Life with Hashimoto’s

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis around 2013 ago. Like many I have a long story leading up to that diagnosis that includes multiple doctors visits with multiple lab tests which all read in the “normal” range, yet more and more hypothyroid symptoms including enlargement of my thyroid gland. For those who don’t know, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is an autoimmune condition where the body decides that the thyroid tissue needs to be destroyed.

There is quite a large list of symptoms for Hashimoto’s. Basically they are the same symptoms you would get for Hypothyroidism (not enough thyroid hormone either being manufactured or being utilized by the body). These include things like exhaustion, thinning hair, dry skin, dry/brittle nails. There is actually a very large list, but these are the basic few.

I figure I will use this section of the D.I.Y. Herbs blog to discuss my trials and tribulations with an autoimmune disorder nicknamed “Hashi’s”, which will help me to stay on the right path with lifestyle changes and hopefully will help others find the right path for their autoimmune difficulties!

Stay tuned as I am planning a large commitment of daily updates!
